Apple Waffles with Brown Sugar Butter


Upgrade your brunch with these flavor-packed waffles. The perfect pairing of cinnamon and apples, along with a touch of indulgent brown sugar butter, takes these waffles to the next level – certain to be a crowd pleaser!


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup peeled, small Tomorrow's® Organics diced apples
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil, plus extra for waffle iron
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Step 1

APPLE WAFFLES: Preheat waffle iron.

Step 2

First, whisk all dry ingredients together. Next, add apple cider, eggs, canola oil, followed by the diced apple.

Step 3

Brush the waffle iron with canola oil. Give your batter a stir prior to making each waffle, as the apples may settle to the bottom of the bowl.

Step 4

Ladle batter into the waffle iron and prepare according to waffle iron instructions.

Step 5

BROWN SUGAR BUTTER: With an electric mixer, beat all ingredients until fluffy.

Step 6

TO ASSEMBLE: Top cooked waffles with brown sugar butter and maple syrup.
